CCT celebrates Literacy through “Knowledge, Unlimited

CCT celebrates Literacy through  “Knowledge, Unlimited: A BVI of Readers” Campaign

Road Town, Tortola (October 26, 2015):

Bridging the gap between literacy and technology — Parents, caregivers, and children are encouraged to celebrate reading with CCT – earlier last month CCT partnered with the Rotaract Club of Tortola to host an Essay Competition which was won by Cedar School International. As a proud supporter of the BVI Reading Council, CCT continues its push this month on literacy awareness by visiting both public and private schools in the territory.

At CCT, our Youth Programs are especially dear to us; it is our way of ensuring that we are continually working to do our part in preparing our young people for tomorrow’s worth force. As it relates to literacy – this is perhaps the most important piece since it’s critical in a person’s ability to advance successfully. ” – said Janette Brin, Marketing & PR Manager

Brin went on to explain the honor she had in reading select story books to various age groups – including the kindergarten class at Ebenezer Thomas Elementary, Grade 3 at Cedar International School, and all Grade 2 classes at Althea Scatliffe Primary School. “It was a fun day of learning for the children as CCT’s Mr. IPhone joined me in also reminding the children about healthy eating so they can focus well at school.” After the story time, CCT treated the students to healthy lunches and snacks. The children also learned about the best ways in which to use the technology that CCT provides and talked about future career options, Brin further explained.

As a part of the initiative, CCT continues to show teachers support through a continued offering of special teacher rates on FREEDOM Plans. Teachers can sign up or renew this exclusive offer by visiting the CCT store in Road Town or Virgin Gorda. Teachers must show proof of employment.

The community is also encouraged to participate in CCT’s In-store Book Drive which ends on October 31.
